A NEW RECREATIONAL DESTINATION FOR OKLAHOMA CITY

The Route 66 Boathouse will extend the excitement surrounding the sports of kayaking and rowing to the banks of the North Canadian River at Lake Overholser. As the birthplace for the sport of rowing in Oklahoma City, the Lake Overholser area offers a beautiful setting for recreational paddling and rowing. The area also provides excellent conditions for training for athletes with wind-protected waterways and a pedestrian trail system. The Route 66 Boathouse is a component to the official Olympic and Paralympic Training Site designation of the OKC Boathouse Foundation and will provide a training venue for Olympic hopefuls.

The Route 66 Boathouse is located near the Stinchcomb Wildlife Preserve, one of Oklahoma City's best kept secrets with its abundant wildlife and natural beauty. The Route 66 Boathouse will offer kayak and bike rentals, a meeting and rest area for Overholser trail users, and tours to explore this unique area. Paddling education programs, camps, and youth leagues will also be offered for the community. The Route 66 Boathouse is operated by the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) entity.
